Sixth Rural Communities Summit: Transforming Rural Economies: Change and Innovation
A joint conference of the BC Rural Network, Rural Team BC and the Municipality of Port Hardy. Participants will have the opportunity to explore today’s most innovative strategies in building a sustainable rural economy. Summit workshops and presentations will feature industry leaders with the goal of: creating and enhancing awareness around issues of importance to rural and remote communities across all regions of BC, providing participants with practical tools and strategies that can be translated into actions in their communities and offering valuable opportunities to network with and learn from rural colleagues.

Funding Opportunities
The True North Strong and Smoke-Free community grant program - The call is out by Northern Health for community organizations and schools to submit project proposals aimed at reducing tobacco use in northern B.C. The True North Strong and Smoke-Free community grant program, now in its seventh year, offers various funding to successful applicants. Projects can focus on any aspect of tobacco reduction such as spit tobacco, second-hand smoke, smoking cessation, youth tobacco prevention or awareness about the hazards of tobacco.

The QuitNow & WIN Contest was launched today too. The contest is designed to encourage people quit smoking and to raise the profile of quit smoking services in BC.
